FRMI

This week, several stocks caught investors’ attention, driven by significant developments and market momentum. Here’s the breakdown of this week’s trending stocks:

Fermi Inc. ($FRMI) Loses CEO and CFO in Major Leadership Shake-Up

Fermi Inc. ($FRMI), an energy infrastructure company developing large-scale private power grids for AI and industrial customers, announced the simultaneous departure of its Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer, alongside a broad restructuring it is calling “Fermi 2.0.”

Co-founder Toby Neugebauer has stepped down as CEO, while CFO Miles Everson has resigned from his financial role. Both departures were announced on the same day. Neugebauer will remain on the Board of Directors, and Everson has transitioned to a Board seat as well. According to the company, a formal search for a new CEO has been launched with executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles, and negotiations are underway to fill the CFO role on an interim basis.

To cover day-to-day operations during the transition, the company said it has created an Office of the CEO, led by two Co-Presidents. Jacobo Ortiz Blanes, the former Chief Operating Officer, and Anna Bofa, a former Board Advisor, will share responsibilities previously held by Neugebauer and report to the newly appointed Board Chairman, Marius Haas.

Haas, a Founding Partner of BayPine and former President of Dell Technologies, has taken over as Chairman from his previous role as Lead Independent Director. The company also added Jeffrey S. Stein, a veteran energy and restructuring executive, to its Board of Directors.

According to the company, Fermi 2.0 is intended to mark a shift from a start-up to a more established enterprise, with plans to open a new corporate headquarters in Dallas and expand its on-site presence in Amarillo, Texas, near its flagship Project Matador campus. The company said it remains committed to the buildout of Project Matador, a planned 17 GW private power grid designed to serve AI and industrial customers, and affirmed its ongoing partnership with the Texas Tech University System.

Stock Price Reaction

$FRMI shares fell approximately 17% following the announcement, extending a steep decline that has taken the stock from its IPO price of $32 to around $5.

Credo Technology ($CRDO) to Acquire DustPhotonics in $750 Million Deal

Credo Technology Group ($CRDO), a semiconductor company providing high-speed connectivity solutions for AI infrastructure and hyperscale data centers, announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire DustPhotonics, an Israeli developer of Silicon Photonics technology used in high-speed optical transceivers.

Credo will pay $750 million in cash plus approximately 920,000 shares of its common stock for the acquisition. According to the company, it may also issue up to an additional 3.21 million shares if DustPhotonics hits certain financial targets after the deal closes. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.

Silicon Photonics — often referred to as SiPho — is a technology that integrates optical functions onto a single chip, enabling data to move at very high speeds using light rather than electrical signals. This is increasingly important for AI data centers, where moving massive amounts of data quickly and efficiently between chips and servers is a key challenge. DustPhotonics has developed chips that support speeds of up to 1.6 terabits per second, with a roadmap extending to 3.2 terabits per second.

According to the company, bringing DustPhotonics in-house will give Credo a fully integrated product stack covering the major building blocks of AI connectivity — from SerDes and digital signal processing to silicon photonics. The company said it expects its combined optical portfolio to generate more than $500 million in revenue in fiscal 2027 and that the deal should be accretive to earnings in that year.

The acquisition also reduces Credo’s reliance on outside suppliers for optical components, giving it more control over its supply chain and the ability to develop more tightly integrated solutions for hyperscale customers.

Stock Price Reaction

$CRDO shares rose approximately 12% following the announcement.

Amazon.com ($AMZN) Deepens Anthropic Partnership with Up to $25 Billion Investment

Amazon.com ($AMZN), one of the world’s largest technology and cloud computing companies, announced an expanded partnership with AI company Anthropic that includes a new $5 billion investment, with the potential for an additional $20 billion tied to certain commercial milestones. The deal builds on the $8 billion Amazon had previously invested in Anthropic, bringing its total potential commitment to up to $33 billion.

As part of the agreement, Anthropic has committed to spending more than $100 billion on Amazon Web Services technologies over the next decade, including Amazon’s custom AI chips — Trainium2, Trainium3, and future generations. According to the company, significant new chip capacity is coming online in the second quarter of 2026, with nearly one gigawatt of total compute capacity expected by year-end. The deal secures up to five gigawatts of capacity in total to train and run Anthropic’s Claude AI models.

The partnership also expands how enterprise customers can access Claude. According to the company, the full Claude Platform will be made available directly within AWS, allowing businesses to use Claude under their existing Amazon accounts, billing, and compliance controls — without needing a separate contract. Anthropic’s Claude currently runs on all three major cloud platforms, including Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.

The scale of the commitment reflects the rapid growth of Anthropic’s business. According to the announcement, Anthropic’s run-rate revenue has surpassed $30 billion, up from approximately $9 billion at the end of 2025. Analysts at KeyBanc noted that Anthropic’s growth represents a meaningful tailwind for AWS, estimating that Amazon captures a significant portion of Anthropic’s cloud spending.

Stock Price Reaction

$AMZN shares rose approximately 3% following the announcement.
