CHYM

This week, several stocks caught investors’ attention, driven by significant developments and market momentum. Here’s the breakdown of this week’s trending stocks:

Chime Financial ($CHYM) to Acquire Stride Bank for $590 Million

Chime Financial ($CHYM), a financial technology company offering low-cost banking and payments products to everyday consumers, announced a definitive agreement to acquire Stride Bank, N.A. for $590 million in cash.

Stride has been Chime’s banking partner for more than seven years. Because Chime is a technology company rather than a bank, it has relied on partner banks to hold member deposits and issue its cards. Once the deal closes, Stride will be renamed Chime Bank, N.A. and operate as a wholly owned subsidiary, giving Chime direct ownership of that banking layer.

According to the company, owning the bank instead of renting access to one will eliminate partner-bank fees, lower its funding costs and let it roll out new products more quickly. Chime said the deal also gives it a faster path to full-stack ownership than applying for a brand-new bank charter, a process that can take years.

Chime expects the acquisition to add to earnings per share immediately upon closing and to produce more than $100 million in net synergies from fee savings, lower funding costs and expansion of its lending business. The company said it plans to fund the purchase with cash already on its balance sheet, with no additional capital raise expected.

The purchase price works out to roughly 1.5 times Stride’s tangible book value, a common benchmark for valuing bank deals. Founded in 1913 and based in Enid, Oklahoma, Stride serves consumers, businesses and fintech partners, and Chime member accounts already make up a meaningful share of its deposits.

Alongside the announcement, Chime raised its guidance. The company now expects third-quarter revenue of $705 million, up about 30% from a year earlier, and full-year revenue of $2.76 billion to $2.77 billion, representing growth of roughly 26% to 27%.

The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, pending approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Reserve. Both boards have approved the deal.

Stock Price Reaction

$CHYM shares rose about 7% following the announcement.

Nebius Group ($NBIS) Named Palantir’s Preferred Sovereign AI Infrastructure Partner

Nebius Group ($NBIS), an AI cloud company that provides computing infrastructure for training and running AI models, announced a strategic partnership with Palantir Technologies ($PLTR) to bring its infrastructure to Palantir’s commercial customers.

As part of the agreement, Palantir named Nebius its preferred sovereign AI infrastructure partner. According to the companies, Palantir will bring Nebius computing and inference capacity inside its enterprise perimeter following an integration period, allowing eligible Palantir customers to run AI workloads on Nebius infrastructure.

The partnership centers on what the industry calls “sovereign AI,” meaning setups where a company keeps control of its own data, models and computing resources rather than relying entirely on outside providers. The companies said eligible customers will be able to deploy open-source AI models on Nebius infrastructure and continually adapt them using their own proprietary data.

Nebius said this approach lets organizations build models tailored to their specific industry or use case while retaining ownership of both the data and the resulting model. Palantir’s software layer, built on its AIP, Ontology, Foundry and Apollo products, is intended to handle the security and isolation side of that arrangement.

The two companies also plan to work together to bring new computing capacity online more quickly, including through modular data center deployments at sites where electricity is already available.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp said Nebius infrastructure would allow customers to run their own models under conditions they control. Nebius CEO Arkady Volozh said the partnership is aimed at giving commercial clients both large-scale performance and control over their data.

The companies did not disclose financial terms, committed capacity or expected revenue from the arrangement.

Stock Price Reaction

$NBIS shares rose about 7.5% following the announcement.

Roivant Sciences ($ROIV) Reports Positive Lung Drug Trial Results

Roivant Sciences ($ROIV), a biopharmaceutical company that develops and commercializes new medicines, announced positive results from a mid-stage trial of its inhaled drug mosliciguat in patients with a serious lung and heart condition.

The drug is being tested in people with pulmonary hypertension linked to interstitial lung disease, a condition where scarring in the lungs raises blood pressure in the lung’s blood vessels and forces the heart to work harder. According to the company, up to 200,000 patients in the U.S. and Europe live with the condition, and most have few or no approved treatment options.

The trial met its main goal. According to the company, patients taking mosliciguat saw blood pressure in the lung’s blood vessels drop by about 56% more than patients on a placebo, which Roivant said is the largest reduction ever reported in a controlled trial of this type.

The company said patients also walked meaningfully farther in a standard six-minute walking test than those on placebo, and showed a large drop in a blood marker that signals strain on the heart. Both improvements continued to strengthen through week 24 of the study.

On safety, Roivant said the drug was well tolerated. Notably, fewer patients on mosliciguat experienced coughing than those on placebo, which the company highlighted because coughing is a common problem with existing inhaled treatments for the condition.

The drug is taken once a day through an inhaler. Roivant said it works differently from currently available options, which it described as limited and often poorly tolerated in patients who already have damaged lungs.

The company also said it has started a late-stage Phase 3 trial, called PHrontier, which is designed to enroll roughly 375 patients worldwide. Enrollment is already underway.

Stock Price Reaction

$ROIV shares jumped about 19% following the announcement.
