Trending Tickers: $ROKU Fox Acquisition, $SNAP Specs Launch, $RXT AMD AI Deal

This week, several stocks caught investors’ attention, driven by significant developments and market momentum. Here’s the breakdown of this week’s trending stocks:
Roku ($ROKU) to Be Acquired by Fox in $22 Billion Deal
Roku ($ROKU), a streaming technology company that makes connected TV devices and operates its own streaming platform, announced that it has agreed to be acquired by Fox Corporation ($FOX) in a cash-and-stock deal valuing the company at about $22 billion. The agreement was unanimously approved by the boards of both companies.
Under the terms, Fox will pay $160.00 per Roku share, made up of $96.00 in cash and a portion of Fox Class A stock for each share. Based on the deal structure, existing Fox shareholders are expected to own roughly 73% of the combined company and Roku shareholders about 27% once the transaction closes.
According to the companies, the deal pairs Fox’s live sports, news, and entertainment content, along with its Tubi streaming service, with Roku’s connected TV platform and its relationship with more than 100 million streaming households worldwide. The combination is intended to position the merged business as one of the largest streaming operators in the U.S. and a bigger force in connected TV advertising.
Roku is expected to continue operating as a standalone platform, meaning users would still access services like Netflix and YouTube through Roku devices. Roku founder and CEO Anthony Wood will keep a role at the combined company and join Fox’s board of directors after the deal closes, which the companies expect in the first half of 2027.
The companies also said they expect the deal to generate roughly $400 million in annual cost savings over time, though the transaction still needs to clear customary closing conditions, including regulatory review.
Stock Price Reaction
$ROKU shares jumped about 20% following the news, reflecting the premium Fox agreed to pay, while $FOX fell about 15% as investors weighed the cost of the acquisition and the debt Fox plans to take on to fund it.
Snap ($SNAP) Introduces Specs Augmented Reality Glasses
Snap ($SNAP), the social media company behind Snapchat, introduced Specs, a new pair of standalone augmented reality glasses, at the Augmented World Expo 2026. The company positioned the device as a way to bring AI assistance, work tools, and entertainment into the real world without requiring users to look down at a phone screen.
According to the company, Specs are fully self-contained, with no separate puck or tether, and come in two sizes weighing roughly 132 to 136 grams. The glasses use a display system that the company says can feel like a 24-inch monitor for work or a 115-inch cinema screen for movies, along with lenses that shift from clear to tinted in about 10 seconds, similar to the technology used in Boeing 787 windows.
Snap said the glasses run on two Snapdragon processors, one for computer vision and one for running its Lenses, and offer up to four hours of mixed-use battery life, with a charging case adding up to 20 total hours. A central feature is AI that can see what the wearer sees and respond to the surrounding environment, alongside privacy controls such as an LED indicator that lights up during recording.
The company is taking pre-orders now, with Specs priced at $2,195 and a $200 refundable deposit. According to Snap, the glasses are expected to ship this fall in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.
The launch drew a mixed response. Some critics described the product as a disappointment, pointing to its bulky look and high price tag. Others questioned whether the device fits Snap’s core audience, noting that much of Snapchat’s user base is teenagers who are unlikely to spend more than $2,000 on a pair of glasses.
Stock Price Reaction
$SNAP shares fell about 10% following the announcement, as some investors questioned the product’s design, its $2,195 price, and whether it appeals to Snap’s largely teenage user base.
Rackspace Technology ($RXT) Signs AI Compute Agreement with AMD
Rackspace Technology ($RXT), a company that provides cloud and AI infrastructure services to businesses, announced a definitive agreement with chipmaker AMD ($AMD) to deploy AMD-based computing power across its global data centers. The deal turns an earlier preliminary agreement from May into a binding commitment.
Under the agreement, Rackspace will roll out an initial 30 megawatts of dedicated AMD computing capacity, with the deployment phased in from late 2026 through 2028. In data center terms, megawatts measure how much power a facility can dedicate to running servers, so the figure is a way of describing the scale of computing Rackspace plans to bring online for AI work.
According to the companies, the setup will use AMD’s Instinct AI chips and EPYC processors inside an integrated system designed for what Rackspace calls a “governed” AI stack. The idea is to give regulated industries, such as healthcare, a single accountable operator for their AI infrastructure rather than piecing together services from multiple vendors, addressing concerns around security, compliance, and reliability.
Rackspace CEO Gajen Kandiah said the collaboration combines the right computing power with an operating model built for industries where governance and oversight are essential. Both companies said they plan to commit sales and marketing staff to jointly pursue enterprise customers. Rackspace also scheduled an investor call on June 16 to discuss the agreement.
The companies cautioned that the plan still depends on factors including financing and separate deployment approvals, meaning the full 30 MW rollout is not guaranteed to proceed on the expected timeline.
Stock Price Reaction
$RXT shares jumped more than 30% following the announcement.
