This week, several stocks caught investors’ attention, driven by significant developments and market momentum. Here’s the breakdown of this week’s trending stocks:
Varex Imaging ($VREX) to Be Acquired by Teledyne Technologies for $1.1 Billion
Varex Imaging ($VREX), a maker of X-ray tubes, digital detectors, and related imaging components used in medical and industrial equipment, announced that it has agreed to be acquired by Teledyne Technologies ($TDY) in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $1.1 billion.
Under the terms of the agreement, Teledyne will pay $18.90 per share in cash for all outstanding shares of Varex — roughly an 88% premium over where the stock traded in late May 2026. According to the companies, the total transaction value of about $1.1 billion also accounts for Varex’s equity awards and net debt as of April 3, 2026. The deal was unanimously approved by both companies’ boards.
Varex has long supplied X-ray sources and digital detectors used in medical diagnostic imaging, non-destructive inspection, security screening, and vehicle inspection systems. The company said its technology is highly complementary to Teledyne’s existing digital imaging business, with minimal product overlap between the two companies.
Teledyne’s Executive Chairman said Varex fills gaps in Teledyne’s lineup, such as detectors built for high-radiation environments like oncology and advanced photon-counting detectors that Teledyne doesn’t currently offer. Varex’s CEO said joining Teledyne gives shareholders a substantial premium and should help speed up development of the company’s next generation of imaging products.
The transaction is expected to close in early 2027, pending regulatory approvals and a vote from Varex shareholders.
Stock Price Reaction
$VREX shares jumped about 48% following the announcement, trading near $18.40 as the market priced the stock close to Teledyne’s $18.90 offer.
Alamar Biosciences ($ALMR) Expands Alzheimer’s Data Partnership with Gates Ventures
Alamar Biosciences ($ALMR), a proteomics company focused on early disease detection through protein biomarker testing, announced an expansion of its partnership with the Alzheimer’s Disease Data Initiative and Gates Ventures.
Under the expanded agreement, Alamar will profile 86,000 additional plasma samples using its newest neurology testing panel, called Neuro 220. According to the company, the panel measures around 220 biomarkers linked to neurological disease from small blood or spinal fluid samples, giving researchers a broader view of conditions like Alzheimer’s than testing for a single biomarker at a time.
The company said this builds on a 2025 initiative that already profiled more than 55,000 samples, and that the expansion reflects growing confidence in its testing platform. Once complete in 2027, the combined dataset is expected to include more than 140,000 samples, which the company said would make it the largest study of its kind for neurodegenerative disease.
Alamar’s CEO said the goal of testing at this scale is to move beyond simply detecting disease toward understanding how it differs from patient to patient, including its stage and how it progresses over time. A representative from Gates Ventures said the expanded dataset could change how doctors approach treatment and prevention.
Stock Price Reaction
$ALMR shares rose about 30% following the announcement.
Fermi Inc. ($FRMI) Signs $6.5 Billion Data Center Lease with TensorWave
Fermi Inc. ($FRMI), an energy infrastructure company developing large-scale power and data center campuses for AI customers, announced it has executed its first binding customer lease at its Project Matador campus in Carson County, Texas, with AI cloud provider TensorWave.
According to the company, the agreement covers a facility supported by 222 megawatts of power and is designed to house tens of thousands of next-generation AMD Instinct GPUs for AI training and computing. The lease runs an initial 15-year term and is expected to generate approximately $6.5 billion in total revenue during that period.
The deal also includes expansion rights for two additional data centers, which the company said could grow the partnership to more than 650 megawatts of total capacity. Deliveries are planned to begin in phases in the second half of 2027, and the lease is still subject to customary conditions, including project guarantees and financing.
Fermi’s chairman said the size and length of the lease reflects strong confidence in the company and fulfills a key goal it had laid out to investors earlier this year. TensorWave’s CEO said the partnership addresses growing demand for AI computing power on a reliable timeline.
Stock Price Reaction
$FRMI shares rose about 21% following the announcement.
